The Bosco I Machiya is a 103 sqm corner property with a large courtyard and a separate studio, located in Shijo, Kyoto. This  authentic machiya is undergoing a meticulous ground-up renovation to blend traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern conveniences. Here are some recent progress highlights:

Structural Improvements

The initial phase focused on reinforcing the structural integrity of the machiya. Essential repairs on the wooden framework have been completed, ensuring the building’s longevity. This groundwork is crucial for preserving the historical value while accommodating modern living standards.

Current Status as of 5/29

Currently, the renovation team is working on foundational and structural elements. These steps include reinforcing the flooring and walls, ensuring a solid base for future interior work. This phase is critical for creating a safe and durable structure that can withstand the test of time.
