We are pleased to announce the arrival of our newest team member, Mr. Kaz Kubiac!

Kaz is an unusual man; he is an American citizen who has lived in Kyoto since he was a child and is a highly regarded Master Carpenter, having gained his apprenticeship working for the great Master Temple Carvers.

For the past 15 years since he finished his 5-year training, he has worked on some of Kyoto’s greatest temples and even the Imperial Palace, honing his skills and his craft and making invaluable contacts as the years went by.

He has worked on innumerable Machiya renovation projects over the years and has the very unusual ability to combine ancient traditional skills with the know-how of modern insulation, heating/cooling systems and all other aspects of converting ancient heritage buildings to comfortable, sustainable homes.

Kaz is a very hands-on Project Manager and spends many hours each week working on each renovation project alongside his team members.

All of us at Heritage Homes are extremely excited to have Kaz in the family and look forward to many years of successful projects together!
